De-Escalation Forums

Community De-Escalation Forums

Since January 2024, State Attorney Bain has partnered with local organizations and youth groups to host a series of community de-escalation forums. These events are designed to empower individuals by educating them on their rights during law enforcement encounters and providing essential de-escalation techniques to help manage these situations safely.

Key Objectives:

  • Promote awareness of legal rights when interacting with law enforcement.
  • Equip attendees with practical de-escalation skills.
  • Foster trust and communication between the community and law enforcement.
  • Strengthen public safety by reducing the potential for conflict during police encounters.

Forum Highlights:

  • Several successful forums have already been held across Orange and Osceola counties.
  • Collaborations with local youth groups and community leaders have been vital to the success of these events.
  • Each forum provides a platform for open discussions on key topics such as personal rights, safety, and conflict resolution.

Looking Ahead:

More forums are planned for the remainder of the year with a continued focus on empowering the community and enhancing public safety.
