Man Convicted of Murder After a Shooting at a Gas Station
ORANGE COUNTY, FL – The Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida announces the conviction of Hakeem Haron for First Degree Murder with a Firearm.
On September 18, 2019, Haron, 26, fatally shot a man named Eddie Murphy, 45, as he was leaving the RaceTrac gas station located at 4805 West Sand Lake Road.
Prosecutors presented compelling witness testimony and video evidence from two surveillance cameras obtained by Orange County sheriff’s deputies. The video footage showed Haron, armed with a gun, advancing through the parking lot of a Chevron gas station towards Murphy. Surveillance video captured 13 muzzle flashes of a gun being shot in the area where the two men met. The footage then recorded Haron walking away from the scene.
An Orange County jury rendered its verdict Friday morning following a four-day trial. Haron was found guilty as charged for First Degree Murder with a Firearm. The severity of the charge carries a mandatory life sentence. Haron’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 30.
