Man Found Guilty in Double Vehicular Homicide Crash

ORANGE COUNTY, FL – On Wednesday, an Orange County jury found Eddie Lee King guilty of two counts of Vehicular Homicide for a 2021 crash that killed two people in Orlando.

On May 6, 2021, an Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop on King at North Orange Blossom Trail and Lee Road. King was driving a Chevrolet Impala and initially pulled into a gas station but refused to stop. He pulled out onto Lee Road at a high rate of speed. After fleeing, he was unable to maintain control of his vehicle, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided with two other vehicles. The passenger in King’s car, 35-year-old Gilberto Vinaja Estrada, and 50-year-old Stephanie Marshall, the driver of one of the vehicles that was struck, were killed.

During the trial, an electronic data recorder expert testified that information from the vehicle showed King was driving 85 miles per hour within 2.5 seconds of the crash. He also tested positive for the recent use of cocaine at the time of the crash. King claimed the passenger was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, but witnesses and evidence showed he was the driver.

After a three-day trial that concluded Wednesday, the jury returned a guilty verdict on two counts of Vehicular Homicide and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer. He will be sentenced on February 9, 2024.
