Adult Drug Court

Program Description

The Ninth Judicial Circuit participates in the Adult Drug Court program administered by the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.

Drug Court is an important tool to use to reduce crime and improve public safety when an offender’s criminal activity is motivated by addiction. People who struggle with serious substance addiction and enter the criminal justice system often return repeatedly. Research has shown treating an offender’s addiction can reduce the likelihood of reoffending better than sentencing them to jail or probation.

Drug Court participants are assessed as having a serious substance addiction. Each participant will receive an individualized treatment plan which includes attending frequent court hearings to monitor their progress, counseling sessions and frequent and random drug testing. As participants advance through Drug Court, they may also receive employment and housing assistance so they may continue their recovery as productive and self-sufficient citizens.

Interested parties must submit a referral form directly to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court Problem Solving Court office.
