Mental Health Court
Program Description
The Ninth Judicial Circuit participates in the Mental Health Court program administered by the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.
Mental Health Court seeks to improve public safety by reducing criminal recidivism among people with serious mental illnesses.
Offenders who have a recent mental health diagnosis and are charged with a qualifying offense may be eligible to participate in Mental Health Court. In Mental Health Court, qualified mental health professionals create individualized treatment programs and offenders are ordered to participate in appropriate treatment services to help improve their quality of life. Participants are monitored through regular court sessions and are required to attend mental health follow-up appointments and counseling as part of their treatment plan.
Interested parties must submit a referral form directly to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court Problem Solving Court office.
